Bindiya in India
Synopsis
Bindiya in India tells the story of a young Indian - American girl who travels to India for the very first time. Weaving together English and Hindi in a rhyming manner, the book follows Bindiya as she takes in the sights of India and learns about the traditions of an Indian wedding. It is published by Mango & Marigold Press and illustrated by Debasmita Dasgupta.
Motivation
Becoming a mother inspired me to revive one of my hobbies, writing. Wanting to pass on my Indian culture to my children, I found a scarcity of children's books that allowed Indian-American children to connect with their heritage. This prompted me to write my own children's book, Bindiya in India. My hope is that through literature, I can share India's rich culture and language with the next generation.
